Privacy Policy – Imposter (party game)
Last updated: 7 October 2026
Imposter is an offline party game played by passing one phone around. We built it so that it does not collect, store on any server, sell or share your personal data.
What stays on your phone
The app saves a few things only on your device, so the game works the way you left it:
- Your chosen language.
- Word categories you create yourself, and which words have already been played, so they don't repeat.
- If you choose to enter one, your own Claude API key (see below).
Player names you type are kept in memory only for the current game. Nothing is uploaded. Uninstalling the app deletes all of this.
When the app uses the internet
The game itself works fully offline. The internet is used only when you choose one of these optional features:
- Make with AI – Ask ChatGPT / Ask Gemini: the app opens ChatGPT or Gemini in your browser or their app, with a question about the theme you typed. Anything you do there is covered by OpenAI's or Google's own privacy policies. You copy the answer back into the game yourself.
- Make with AI – own Claude API key (optional): the theme you typed is sent directly from your phone to Anthropic's API using your key, to create a word list. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to that request. We never see your key or the request.
What we don't do
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No ads, analytics or tracking SDKs.
- No location, contacts, camera, microphone or photo access.
- No sale or sharing of data with third parties.
Children
The game is meant for teens and adults playing together, and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
